People in our class have been writing stories about the Fall of Baghdad.

The grandson of Genghis Khan, Hulagu Khan, received the western provinces of the Mongol Empire.

Hulagu Khan conquered Persia, eliminated the Abbasid caliphate, destroyed Baghdad (a city of a million inhabitants) and creared the Mongol empire of the Il-Khans in Persia. Halugu Khan attacked Baghdad because he wanted his own empire, also his father sent him . The people of Baghdad (adults and children) unfortuanatly got killed or trampled! In 1258, approximately 1.2 million people lived in Baghdad. Close to 90,000 citizens  may have died. We think Halagu Khan attacked Baghdad because he didn’t want to be overpowered and he wanted his own empire. The people of Baghdad were slaughtered by the Mongolians.
